TherapySmith is a group of Los Angeles therapists for creatives, black sheep, outsiders, introverts, neurodivergent folx, and all the loveable weirdos! We provide in-person psychodynamic psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups  for people in Los Angeles (West LA, Beverly Hills, Mid-City, Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Culver City). Additionally, we also provide quality long-term psychotherapy to people all over California via telephone and video.

COVID-19 Notice

In order to provide a safe therapeutic environment, TherapySmith requires all in-person patients to be fully vaccinated (including a booster) against COVID-19.  Your therapist will ask you to provide proof of vaccination. We also recommend continuing to wear masks inside building common areas.

What is “Psychotherapy for Loveable Weirdos?”

A “lovable weirdo” is someone who might feel out of place or doesn’t always feel like they belong. Maybe you’re the “black sheep” in your family. You might identify as an Introvert or as a creative or artistic person. Or you might be neurodivergent or have a diagnosis of ADHD or an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Regardless, you find yourself longing to connect more with others and to feel more confident as your authentic self. Many Los Angeles therapists bill themselves as a “therapist for creatives” but tend to focus on career aspirations or fame rather than trying to understand you deeply and holistically. At TherapySmith, being a “loveable weirdo” means more than just what you do for a living.

You are a person to be understood, not a problem to be solved.

At TherapySmith, we start with the idea that there is already a lot about you that is strong and worthy. We take our time to explore who you are, including your family history, in order to understand how your past influences your present. As your relationship with your therapist develops, you will also pay attention to the interpersonal dynamics. Working this way can alleviate the pressure and anxiety that “lovable weirdos” may feel in other parts of their lives.

Inclusive Therapy

As Los Angeles therapists, we believe that mental health care should embrace the diversity of our communities. TherapySmith provides LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy, as well as BIPOC affirmative, anti-racist therapy.  Inclusive therapy decenters white, heterosexual, ableist, and cisgender perspectives and focuses on your individual experience.  We explore the intersection of your identities and take into account social, cultural, and economic forces that influence your development.
